Participatory Schools of Energy Culture
PARTICIPATORY SCHOOLS OF ENERGY CULTURE is an Erasmus+ project under Key Action KA220 Partnerships for Cooperation in Adult Education. It has a duration of 24 months (November 2024 to November 2026) and is being developed in four countries (Spain, Turkey, Romania, and Greece).
The main objective of the project is to improve information, education, and citizen participation in energy issues, promoting the acquisition of sustainable and environmental skills, combating energy poverty, and fostering cooperation in the fight against climate change through collaborative projects and network-based work.
To achieve this general objective, the project sets the following specific objectives:
Energy Culture Information Center
Creation of an Energy Culture Information Center that addresses the needs and gaps in materials, resources, and research related to energy. It will also include a multilingual dictionary with energy terminology, fostering the acquisition of sustainable skills and mitigating misinformation on environmental and energy topics.
Energy Education Program
- Design and validation of two syllabus for the Energy Education Program, which will serve as the foundation for developing two modules in any context, following their specific characteristics.
- Development of the content for these two modules in the four partner countries, adapting to their context, conditions, characteristics, and target group. The two modules are:
- Energy Culture, Climate Change, and Ecological Transition.
- Sustainable and Environmental Competencies: Measures, methods, and habits for energy savings, responsible consumption, and understanding the energy market.
Virtual Environment of Energy Culture
Creation of an accessible, multi-platform, multilingual Virtual Environment of Energy Culture that will host educational materials and open pedagogical resources developed during the project. It will offer an innovative space for learning and participation, serving as the foundation for the Participatory Schools.
Participatory Schools of Energy Culture
Launch of Participatory Schools of Energy Culture at the local level, developing participatory actions (workshops, debates, talks, micro-trainings, etc.) on energy topics for various target groups.
Sustainability and Transferability
Ensuring the sustainability and transferability of the Participatory Schools of Energy Culture and the Virtual Environment to other territories and contexts, using the developed materials and fostering network-based work.

Participatory Schools of Energy Culture
The Participatory Schools of Energy Culture are aimed at a wide and diverse target audience: adults and elderly people, young people and students, uninformed and with limited knowledge of energy topics; migrants and refugees with low awareness of energy culture; people at risk of energy poverty and/or exclusion; technicians from organizations and social/community leaders; political makers, etc.
