The final content evaluation and feedback session for two courses of the energy education program for adults, implemented under the coordination of our District National Education Directorate within the scope of the KA220 Erasmus+ Adult Education Project “Participatory Schools of Energy Culture” (No: 2024-1-ES01-KA220-ADU-000247327), and a workshop on “Participatory Actions in Energy Culture” were held.

Our teachers participating in the two courses, developed under the titles “Energy Culture and Ecological Transition” and “Eco-Skills in Energy Culture,” which are included in the 4th Work Package of the project, completed the pilot evaluation process for both courses and received their certificates.

Today, the teachers in the course piloting & evaluation group had the opportunity to exchange ideas on the “Participatory Actions in Energy Culture,” which will be prepared as the final activity of the course pilot evaluation process, at a workshop held in the Special Office Unit of the District National Education Directorate.

Our team, which participated in piloting\/evaluation process of these two courses and provided feedback on their quality and content, consists of 12 teachers from different majors and schools. The assessment process and the “Energy Culture Participatory Actions” to be prepared as the final activity of the assessment\/piloting process constitute one of the important steps of the project. With the successful completion of this stage, another important step has been taken in the project; the content and quality assessment process of the courses previously prepared by our science teachers and teachers working in the Special Office Unit together with the personnel and training staff of 3 different partner organizations from abroad (Spain, Greece and Romania) has been completed.

The outcomes and key topics covered in the completed courses include the following, as well as other important conceptualizations aimed at making the topic of energy more perceivable\/comprehensible and developing an energy culture:

1- Understanding the fundamental concepts of sustainability and green competencies
2- Recognizing the link between the SDGs and sustainable energy management
3- Identifying daily practices for energy saving and efficient energy use at home, at work, and in the community
4- Evaluating the environmental impact of individual and collective consumption
5- Learning about accessible technologies and tools to optimize energy consumption
6- Applying 4G principles (Reduce Unnecessary, Reuse, Recycle, Recover) in daily life
7- Interpreting the meaning of all types of energy bills and comparing different types of consumption, considering their own country and using technical, economic, and environmental criteria
8- Understanding and exercising consumer rights, including access to consumer rights advocacy groups\/organizations and energy cooperation communities
9- Analyzing and understanding energy consumption in their own environment and community and utilizing digital tools to increase efficiency in energy consumption
10- Being able to develop a personal action plan considering the living conditions in their environment and the resources available at home and at work.
11- Being able to identify forms of action and information that will improve sustainable, responsible, and conscious energy consumption at the individual, family, or community level.
